How to Fade Dark Spots Naturally

Hello all! This post will discuss natural ways to fade dark spots without using harsh and harmful chemicals to do so. Dark spots, post-acne marks, scars, discolorations, hyperpigmentation, blemishes and many endless names to call those dark marks that are left on your skin. Dark spots are often caused by numerous factors such as acne (popping pimples), excessive sun exposure, and hormonal imbalance to name a few.

I suffered with dark spots and acne scarring as a result to popping my pimples and not wearing sunscreen. I looked up some natural ways to fade dark spots on Instagram with hashtag #fadedarkspots  and I want to share these posts with you. These ways are great because they won’t harm your skin or break your bank either.

@makeup_beauty_by_natalie posted this picture showing two ingredients to help fade dark spots: lemons and honey. She states, “Start your day by drinking 1 glass of warm water mixed with lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of honey on an empty stomach. This fights cellulite and clears your skin from within.”

Lemons have antioxidants and Vitamin C to help lighten discolorations. You can use lemon juice as a toner to put all over your face to tighten pores. Place lemon juice on your spots and leave it on for 10-15 minutes and rinse it off. *CAUTION: direct sunlight will cause a bad sunburn and increase skin sensitivity (according to wikiHow: http://www.wikihow.com/Use-a-Lemon-to-Lighten-Your-Skin) . If possible, limit sun exposure and your use of this method to once or twice a week.*.

Honey is a natural anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory ingredient to treat acne, moisturize skin and fade dark spots. Heat up a teaspoonful of honey and apply it over your face. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and rinse thoroughly. This will leave your skin feeling smooth and glowing instantly! Over time, you will see improvement in skin’s overall clarity and texture. I’ve personally tried this and this definitely works and it is worth trying!

@sheagurl posted this picture on her page dedicated to natural hair and skin care. Turmeric is a spice used in Indian food and skin care. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. Use a teaspoon of turmeric powder mixed with plain yogurt and mix them together. Apply the mask on the face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off and repeat 1-2 times a week. The powder can also be mixed with milk, coconut oil, orange juice to make a mask. This can also be used to lighten dark elbows, knees and underarms.
