Hello everybody! Today I want to give a review on the Sephora Mud Mask Purifying & Mattifying. The picture above is how the packaging looks.

*DISCLAIMER: I brought this mask with my own money. This is a honest review that I didn’t receive money for.*

The mask comes in a hard glass jar with a white matte lid. Below is what the mask itself looks like:

It is a very mask with a thick consistency.

Price: $20.00 at Sephora

Product Description (taken from Sephora.com):

A zinc and copper mud mask that cleanses the skin, removes impurities, unclogs the pores, and reduces the appearance of blemishes.

What it is formulated to do:
This mask with a muddy texture instantly cleanses and purifies the skin. It absorbs excess sebum, cleansing the skin and mattifying without drying up. The formula is enriched with zinc and copper to purify and white clay to soften.

PROS:

1. Dries up quickly on your face

2. Leaves your skin feeling instantly clean, matte and smooth

3. Helps improve breakouts overtime

4. Very good at controlling oil production

5. Nice fresh cleaning smell

CONS:

1. A tingling sensation happens as soon as the  mask is on your face, so you may be irritated by it if you have sensitive skin.

2.This does not help to permanently shrink your pores! Smaller pores are only temporary. If you don’t use this mask regularly, your pores will appear large.

This is how my face looks after  rinsing the mask off:

Overall Impression:

This mask I does a god job cleaning our pores and leaving our skin feeling clean and oil-free. With continuous use, my oil production had improved , and the amount of breakouts had reduced.  It also helps to dry up and banish pimples faster. However, it isn’t helpful if you’re looking to permanently reduce the size of your pores. It helps temporarily to make them appear smaller, but they won’t be looking small forever.

Overall, I do recommend this mud mask to those who suffer with acne-prone, oily or combination skin. A lot of people say that this mask is a cheaper alternative for the GlamGlow Mud Mask in the white jar, but I have never tried he GlamGlow masks.

  1. […] Why is it Bad? Milk of Magnesia is used for relieving constipation, and it is meant for oral consumption, not to be put on your face. Applying milk of magnesia will instead clog your pores, and cause future breakouts. Instead: Find primers that are oil-free, and are mattifying. For skin care, use charcoal-based products to help remove impurities, dirt and oil. African Black Soap is really good for removing dirt off your face. It is also a multi-purpose product to incorporate into your skin care routine. To learn more about it’s uses, please click here. Also, use masks weekly to reduce oil production. The Sephora Purifying & Mattifying Mud Mask is a really good one for mattifying skin. For more information on that mask, please click here. […]

  2. […] Mask: The Sephora Purifying and Clarifying Mud Mask with Zinc & Copper ($20) is really great for oily and combination skin. O use this mask 1-2 times a week. The mud mask dries fast, absorbs the oil, and remove impurities. After rinsing, it leaves your skin matte and smooth, but not overdrying. It is also great to treat acne and shrink large pores.
